Dan M. Shapiro, D.O., to its Medical Staff
Opelousas, LA, 09/07/2026 – Lance Armentor, BSM, MHA, President & CEO of Opelousas General Health System
announces that Dan M. Shapiro, D.O., will join the OGHS Medical Staff effective September 2026. Dr. Shapiro
specializes in Infectious Disease. His scope of service includes complex infection management, immunocompromised
care, primary medical care for patients with HIV, sepsis, and other infectious diseases.

Dr. Shapiro completed his medical training at Campbell University School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lillington, NC. He
completed a residency in Internal Medicine at UNC Health Southeastern in Lumberton, NC. He completed a fellowship in
Infectious Disease at Ochsner Medical Center in Baton Rouge. Dr. Shapiro is board certified in both Internal Medicine
and Infectious Disease.
He is a member of American College of Physicians, American Osteopathic Association, and American Academy of
Family Physicians.

Dr. Shapiro joins Dr. Vaughn-Allen at Opelousas General Rural Health Clinic. The medical practice is currently located at
