Two Opelousas teenagers have been arrested following an investigation into a reckless shooting spree that endangered lives and caused property damage.
On January 25, 2026, Opelousas Police responded to two separate shots fired calls.
• The first incident occurred shortly after 10:00 a.m., when a residence with occupants inside and a vehicle were struck by gunfire. Officers recovered shell casings and other physical evidence at the scene.
• A second call was received just before 5:00 p.m. Officers recovered additional shell casings in the area; however, no injuries or property damage were reported during that incident.
Through the use of private surveillance footage and citywide crime cameras, investigators identified a vehicle of interest and two suspects. Both individuals were taken into custody on January 29, 2026, and later confessed to their involvement. The following individuals were booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail:
• Deavon Stevenson (18) – Illegal Use of Weapons, Assault by Drive-By Shooting, and two counts of Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property
• Marcus Julian (19) – Principal to Illegal Use of Weapons, Assault by Drive-By Shooting, and Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property
Reducing gun violence remains a top priority of the Opelousas Police Department. We will continue to dedicate all available resources to identifying, apprehending, and holding accountable those who threaten the safety of our community.
We extend our sincere thanks to the citizens and business owners whose cooperation and video evidence played a critical role in these timely arrests.
