The Opelousas Police Department would like to remind everyone that Halloween will be observed on Thursday, October 30th, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
As families prepare for a night of fun, please keep these safety tips in mind:
For Parents & Kids:
Walk on sidewalks and use crosswalks—never between parked cars. Make sure costumes are visible at night (add reflective tape or carry a flashlight). Young children should always be accompanied by an adult. Only visit homes with porch lights on and never enter a stranger’s home.
For Drivers:
Slow down and stay alert! Children may dart across streets unexpectedly. Avoid distracted driving—put the phone down and keep your eyes on the road.
For Everyone:
Check all candy before eating.
Respect property and be courteous to your neighbors. Have fun and stay safe!
Let’s make this a safe and memorable Halloween for all our Opelousas families!
