Opelousas Police Investigate Two Separate Shooting Incidents
Opelousas, LA – Investigators with the Opelousas Police Department are working
diligently to address two recent shooting incidents in the city, one of which resulted in a
tragic loss of life.
On Monday, November 18, 2024, officers responded to a shooting in the 1100 block of
Larry Street, where they located a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the
face. Evidence collected at the scene and information provided by witnesses led
investigators to identify a suspect, 19-year-old Travion Anthony William Jones.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Jones, charging him with:
 Attempted Second Degree Murder
 Illegal Use of Weapons & Dangerous Instrumentalities
 Illegal Possession of a Stolen Firearm
Chief Martin Leblanc expressed his gratitude to the community for assisting
investigators in identifying the suspect. Anyone with information regarding Jones’s
whereabouts is encouraged to contact the Opelousas Police Department. All calls can
remain anonymous.
In a separate incident, on Monday, November 5, 2024, officers responded to a
shooting in the 500 block of Kim Drive, where a 17-year-old female was shot in the
head. Following an investigation, Danger Johnson was arrested and initially charged
with four counts of Attempted Second Degree Murder.
Tragically, the victim succumbed to her injuries on Saturday, November 16, 2024,
prompting an upgrade in charges. Johnson now faces:
 Four counts of Attempted Second Degree Murder
 One count of Second Degree Murder
Chief Leblanc extended his deepest condolences to the Robertson family for their loss
and reaffirmed the department’s commitment to pursuing justice for the victim. “Our
investigators are working tirelessly to ensure that those responsible for such heinous
acts are held accountable,” Chief Leblanc stated.
The Opelousas Police Department urges anyone with information regarding this incident to
come forward and assist with the investigation. We also remind the public that any information
