Opelousas Celebrates City Hall Exterior Renovation

and Zydeco Mural Reinstallation

Opelousas, LA – September 23, 2024 – The City of Opelousas invites the community to a
ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the completion of the City Hall exterior renovation
and the reinstallation of the iconic zydeco mural. The event will be held on Tuesday,
September 24th, 2024, at 5:30pm in the Opelousas City Hall parking lot.
The renovation project has revitalized the City Hall’s façade, enhancing its appearance
and preserving its historical significance. The reinstallation of the zydeco mural, a beloved
symbol of Opelousas’s rich cultural heritage, further adds to the enhancement of the
downtown area.
“We are thrilled to unveil the newly renovated exterior of City Hall and welcome back the
zydeco mural,” said Mayor Julius Alsandor. “This project represents an investment in our
city’s future and showcases our commitment to preserving our unique cultural identity.”
The ribbon-cutting ceremony will feature remarks from Mayor Alsandor, city officials, and
community leaders.
