King Imperial VI Herman Fuselier and Queen Lily VI Rhonda Bergeron reigned over the sixth annual Opelousas Imperial Mardi Gras Ball Saturday night. The ball is the official start of the Mardi Gras season in Opelousas with many more events to come before the Mardi Gras parade which runs through downtown Opelousas on Tuesday, March 4, at 11 a.m. The Yamatorium ,where the ball was held, was turned into a royal venue as the king and queen ruled over their royal subjects. Providing the musical entertainment for the ball was the Hotline Band who kept the party going until the wee hours of the morning. 400 tickets were sold for the even according to OIMG members.
