Groundbreaking ceremonies for the Opelousas Library renovation was held Tuesday at the library’s front entrance. Mayor Julius Alsandor opened the ceremony by introducing special guest library dircctor Angela Zachary who has held the position for 30 plus years. Also on hand were members of the Opelousas City Council, chamber of commerce representatives and well wishers from the Opelousas community. The $900,000 dollar project is underway and should be complete in about eight months. The project includes extensive interior an exterior renovations.
