St. Landry Parish to Open Warming Shelter Ahead of Forecasted Winter Weather
ST. LANDRY PARISH – Due to forecasted cold weather expected in the coming days, St.
Landry Parish Government will open a warming shelter from Saturday, January 24, through
Tuesday, January 27, to ensure residents have access to a safe, heated space.
The warming shelter will open on Saturday, January 24 at 4:00 p.m. and will be located at:
Indian Hills Country Club
1141 E. Prudhomme Street
Opelousas, LA 70570
Participants are required to bring a valid state-issued ID for check-in. Residents are also
encouraged to bring personal necessities, including but not limited to medications, pillows,
blankets, snacks, and other essential items to ensure their comfort during their stay.
St. Landry Parish Government urges residents who may be vulnerable to cold temperatures to
take advantage of this resource and encourages the public to help spread the word to those who
may need assistance.
