The 17th annual Pink Bag Luncheon and Style Show was held Friday at the Evangeline Downs Event Center with breast cancer survivors modeling the latest fashions. Guest speaker and breast cancer survivor was Michelle Sandlin. She is an award winning writer and author who has been recognized for her poignant and insightful work across various genres including journalism, poetry and memoir writing. She penned a popular weekly column for the Houston Chronicle from 2013 to 2020. Her work has appeared in publications like the Houston Business Journal and Mobility Magazine.
The luncheon began with a welcome given by OGHS Foundation Cindy Torian and a blessing by Sister Mary Kay Kinberger. KATC TV3’s Jazmin Thibodeaux served as emcee and WWL Radio personality Ian Auzenne since 2017 served as tyle show announcer.
The Pink Bag Luncheon is just one of many events sponsored by Opelousas General Health System and Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center in October to promote breast cancer awareness.
