The Yambilee Festival may be no more in Opelousas but at Prompt Succor Nursing Facility it is alive and well as evidenced by today’s Yambilee coronation of Yam King Ronald Berard and Queen Betty Tromblay. serving on the royal court are Princess Cynthia Ned and Prince Cephus Green.
The celebration got underway with a welome by Sister Stephania D’Souza and prayer by Sister Kathleen Stakulum. A hymn of thanksgiving and praise was performed by Sister Charlotte LeBouef. The introduction of the guest speaker, Parish President Jessie Bellard, was given by Shahanna Stoute. Following the crowning and musical entertainment gumbo, yam pies and drinks were served to the residents and visiting guests.
