America needs prayers and what better place to recite the Holy Rosary to Our Lady of Fatima than the statue of St. Landry on the courthouse square. The local representative organizing the event was Yvonne Normand a devout Catholic and a member of the Catholic Daughters of America.

Our Lady of Fátima is a Catholic title of Mary, mother of Jesus, based on the Marian apparitions reported in 1917 by three shepherd children at the Cova da Iria in Fátima, Portugal. The three children were Lúcia dos Santos and her cousins Francisco and Jacinta Marto.  During her appearances, Our Lady of Fátima supposedly gave the children three secrets and repeatedly exhorted them to pray the rosary for world peace and emphasized the necessity of devotions to her Immaculate Heart in order for souls to be saved.
