Rotary Hosts Annual Auction
Staff Reports
Opelousas Noon Rotary Club members were placed in front of live television cameras Tuesday night as they hosted their annual club auction at the Delta Media studios in upper Lafayette Parish.
During the three-hour auction which featured live bidding, club members handled phone calls for available donated items such as a vintage bottle of Dom Perignon, thousands of pounds of crawfish, jewelry, sports collectibles, yard maintenance equipment, casino visits, restaurant dinners and antiques that were offered for sale.
Local businesses also acted as sponsors to help pay for the event and production costs.
In a few weeks, the club will announce the total auction proceeds that will be dispersed among local charities.
Club members acted as auctioneers and in-studio helpers that were assisted by St. Landry Interact Club members representing several high schools.
