Yesterday, Da’Qualon Joseph Robinson of Opelousas was sentenced to imprisonment at hard labor after the October 16th jury verdict finding Robinson guilty of Second-Degree Murder and Obstruction of Justice. Robinson was fifteen (15) years old at the time of the crime, the victim was also just fifteen (15) years old when he died of a gunshot wound to the head when he was murdered on North Main Street in Opelousas on November 2, 2022.

Louisiana law provides that Second-Degree Murder carries mandatory life of imprisonment at hard labor. But because of his age at the time of the crime, Robinson will have the possibility of parole after serving twenty-five years at hard labor.
