It was the perfect day for a birthday party and St. Landry Parish celebrated in a big way with the fourth annual Red White and Boom music and fireworks event sponsored by St. Landry Parish Government and held in the Ag Arena and the surrounding grounds.

The crowds started arriving around 5 p.m. to celebrate the nation’s 248th birthday. They came carrying their lawn chairs and umbrellas, not for the rain but to shield from the hot July sun. There was plenty of room to view the lightning show as evidenced by the many pick-up trucks lined up as close as possible to where the boom action would soon begin.

But before the firework show began there was plenty of action inside the Ag Arena where DJ Titanic and Matthew Ewing and his band entertained the crowd. And it wouldn’t be the 4th of July without hot dogs, Red White and Boom had them plus other delicacies for the partygoers.

When the day was turning to night it was time for the big event. The crowds made it to the grounds of the Ag Arena to witness the 25 minute fireworks celebration that concluded the party. Happy Birthday America!!!
