Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz stated, “On December 9, 2024, St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics
Detectives established surveillance at the residence 704 South Court Street, Opelousas. Narcotics Detectives
had received information that Shona Johnson was selling fentanyl from the residence approximately one month
prior.” Sheriff Guidroz went on to state, “While conducting the surveillance, detectives observed a gray Nissan
Altima arrive at the residence. A black male later identified as Albert Denton was observed to exit the vehicle
and enter the residence. After Denton left the home, Street Team members observed a traffic violation and
conducted a traffic stop. A K-9 was utilized, resulting in a positive response for the odor of illegal narcotics.”
Sheriff Guidroz also stated, “During the search of the vehicle, 3 small yellow ziplock bags containing suspected
fentanyl were located. Denton and two adult passengers were arrested and Juvenile Detectives were called out,
as Denton had his 10-year-old son in the vehicle as well.”
Sheriff Guidroz reports, “Due to the totality of circumstances, Narcotics Detectives obtained a search warrant
for 704 South Court Street, Opelousas, Louisiana. Upon executing the search warrant detectives located Shona
Johnson inside the residence with two other adult males and four juvenile foster children.” Sheriff Guidroz
continued, “The search resulted the confiscation of:

  • 30 grams of fentanyl valued at $3,000.00
  • 21 rocks of cocaine valued at $420.00
  • 6 digital scales
  • 2 blenders
  • 1 gram of crystal methamphetamine
DCFS was notified and found placement for the four children.”
