Det. Sgt. Mike Hidalgo of the Opelousas Police Department
returns to Crime Stoppers and needs your help in solving a cold-
case homicide in the city of Opelousas.
In the early morning hours of October 7, 2020, officers with the
Opelousas Police Department were dispatched to 426 W. Landry
Street, in reference to gunshots in the area. Upon arrival, Taylon
Anderson was located lying near the rear entrance of the
building.
Anderson was found to be deceased from a single gunshot
wound. The officers discovered that illegal gambling had been
occurring at the location, prior to Anderson’s death. The officers
also located several loaded handguns at the location.
Witnesses came forward during the investigation stating that
Anderson was attempting to rob the location when he was shot.
However, new information has been uncovered indicating that
Anderson may have been shot for another reason.
