SPSB Honors Cassimere

Longtime St. Landry Parish educator and administrator Joseph Cassimere was honored on Thursday night with a resolution and a standing applause tribute by school board members and those who attended a regular meeting.
Cassimere, 76, died at his residence on Feb. 12 following an illness. Funeral services for Cassimere, who worked for the District as a teacher, principal and assistant principal, were held Feb. 21 at Mohorn Baptist Church in the Plaisance community.
Accepting the resolution on behalf of her husband were Patricia Cassimere and Raymond Cassimere, brother of Joseph Cassimere.
Presenting the plaque on behalf of the Board were Superintendent Milton Batiste III and board president Randy Wagley.
Prior to the meeting board members and those in attendance observed a moment of silence for Joseph Cassimere and others connected with the District who have died recently.
