Sororities, Fraternities Saluted

Six Black Opelousas-area sororities and fraternities associated with national organizations, provided their local chapter updates Friday night during the annual Divine 9 presentations held at the Delta Grand Theater.
Local chapter presidents provided overviews of the programs, activities and scholarships they sponsored within the communities during the past year and detailed the histories associated with the national chapters which are more than 100 years old.
Most of the sororities represented at the program were chartered locally during the mid-1970’s and the original members of each of the organizations were honored.
Several founding members of the sororities attended the program on Friday night.
The sororities represented were Lambda Beta Omega, Delta Sigma Theta, Zeta Phi Beta and Sigma Gamma Rho.
Local fraternities present were Kappa Alpha Psi and Phi Beta Sigma.
