“Lessons From Our Past” the first week-end of the St. Landry Catholic Church Cemetery Tour is in the books but the tour continues next week-end with the same cast of characters or spirits that include Jeanette Vivian Corte, spouse of Woodmen of the World member, performed by Amanda Boutte; Lt. George Kenneth Pavy, World War II Army Air Corp, performed by Jessie Marsalis; Marie Holman Roy,, automotive dealer, performed by Debbie Roy Fay; Francois Narcisse Lemelle, maternal 3rd great uncle of Pope Leo XIV, performed by Larry Caillier II; Rev. Father Carmen Chachere, first Holy Ghost Creole priest, his mother performed by Sheryl Ned and Nicole Roy; General Cuvier Grover, Union Civil War general, performed by James Douget; Marie Collins Lastrapes, famous Creole caterer, performed by Etha Amling; Clifton Chenier, king of Zydeco, performed by Isaiah Terry. Chenier is also celebrating his 100th birthday. This year’s tour is dedicated in memory of Warren “Brother” Alsandor. A gallery of photos are shown below the text.
