St. Landry Crime Stoppers Receives Two National Awards
Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz is pleased to report, “Major Mark LeBlanc and Lt. Elizabeth Bernard
have returned from the 50 th Crime Stoppers USA Conference in Washington, D.C. They bring
with them two national awards, one for Radio Public Service Announcement and the second for
the St. Landry Parish TRIAD Community Initiative. The Radio PSA resulted from a 21-year-
old cold case of missing person Sandra Burris and was featured on the nation-wide podcast
“The Deck”.
Our TRIAD Community Initiative was most
gratifying, as we try to bring the best possible
vendors, services and anti-crime awareness
to our senior citizens. Every three months,
these events are held in Arnaudville, Port
Barre, Eunice and Opelousas. Free food and
live entertainment are provided, along with
door prizes and the numerous resources from
the vendors and state agencies.”
Sheriff Guidroz concludes, “We are very
proud of the exceptional work that the St.
Landry Crime Stoppers Board, Major
LeBlanc and Lt. Bernard bring to the job.
The work of St. Landry Crime Stoppers and
Crime Stopper entities throughout the world
work consistently to get anonymous tips to
law enforcement to prevent and stop criminal
activity.”
