Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz reports, “It was learned this morning that two inmates escaped from
the St. Landry Parish Jail. The inmates discovered a degrading part of an upper wall area and
over time, removed the mortar allowing them to remove concrete blocks and provide their exit.”
Sheriff Guidroz continues, “The inmates used sheets and other items to scale the outer wall,
drop onto the 1 st Floor roof and lower themselves to the ground. An internal investigation has
been initiated, the Jail Supervisory Staff will be providing a comprehensive report and both will
be forwarded to my office for appropriate action.” Sheriff Guidroz advises, “Both of these
individuals are in custody relative to charges of a violent nature. The public should not
approach them, but should immediately notify local authorities, the Sheriff’s Office and 911.”
The third missing inmate was recently discovered, as he is also charged with numerous felony
offenses and was involved in a recent SWAT standoff, we ask the public to be cautious, not
approach and notify authorities immediately.
