PRESS RELEASE FROM THE ST. LANDRY DISTRICT ATTORNEY OFFICE
On Wednesday, August 23, 2023 after a 2-day trial, a St. Landry Parish Jury unanimously found Michael Comeaux guilty of Sexual Battery (victim under 13 years of age) and Pornography Involving Juveniles. Assistant District Attorneys Patsy Duhon and Randy Wagley prosecuted the case for the State.
A sentencing date of October 18, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. has been set before Judge Alonzo Harris. On the sexual battery charge, the defendant faces a minimum of 25 years and up to 99 years at hard labor of which the first 25 years are without benefit of parole, probation or suspension of sentence. The defendant also faces a minimum of 5 years and up to 20 years hard labor without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence on the charge of Pornography Involving Juveniles.
