Jasper Neyland American Legion Post 209 in Washington was the setting Tuesday evening for an honor medal ceremony honoring 209 Post veterans. Special guest at the event was Major General Bennett Landreneau, former Commander and Adjutant General of the Louisiana Air and Army National Guard from 1997-2011. Other invited guests were Washington Mayor Dwight Landreneau, Carlton J. Meginley, Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs secretary; John C. Phillips, Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs undersecretary; Darrel Miller, Veterans Affairs counselor and Larry Williams. Assisting General Landreneau with the awarding of the medals was Post 209 Commander Dane St. Cyr.
