The Westminster Christian Academy Home festivities started early Friday night as the Crusaders ended their District 5-1A contest in fewer than two hours.

Three quarters of the game was conducted with a running game clock as Westminster defeated Berchmans Academy 63-0.

Westminster, which has the highest power ranking among Class 1A non-select teams, improved to 8-0, with four of those victories against league opponents.

Berchmans (1-7) remained winless in 5-1A. The Saints are in their second season of LHSAA-recognized varsity competition.

WCA quarterback Stephen George passed for five touchdowns, with four of those in the first half.

The Crusaders led 49-0 at halftime and then scored twice during the early moments of the second half.

Running back Kyle Horde scored twice for the Crusaders on runs of five and 68 yards. The 5-yard TD was set up by a 45-yard yard Horde gain.

Westminster moved to 14-0 after defensive back Damien Thomas traveled 22 yards with an interception.

George threw his first touchdown pass to Evan Lemon on a 36-yard route that gave the Crusaders a three-score lead with 4;48 left in the first period.

Thomas scored again on a 10-yard pass from George with 2:50 left in the first. Then minutes later wide receiver Gavin Frith caught a 31-yard scoring pass from George that increased the lead to 35-0.

WCA’s Jack Hunt recovered an onside kick following the touchdown and the Crusaders used that opportunity to increase the lead to 42-0 with eight seconds left in the first period.

George connected with tight end Omar Guillory on an 11-yard pass, while the second touchdown run from Horde enabled WCA to increase the lead to 49-0 with 6:37 remaining before halftime.

Guillory scored on another touchdown pass from George after the Saints lost possession after fourth down.

Thomas and Austin Dunbar caught a combined 54 yards of passes following two receptions before George lofted the scoring pass to Guillory.

WCA placekicker Mac Proffitt kicked all the extra points.
