Who Are Local Coaches Picking?

In what has become a tradition at St. Landry Now.com, we have once again deferred to more professional help when it comes to selecting a Super Bowl winner.

What better authorities to choose for that task than by having the St. Landry high school football coaches indicate who they think will be the winner of Super Bowl LX on Sunday.

The parish coaches who answered our requests for determining the winner will have their choices paired with a pick from an annual special celebrity guest who all our readers will admit, knows quite a bit about football.

So before placing your wagered bets or roll the dice on the Seahawks or Patriots, read what our coaches have to say:

James Shiver, St. Edmund – Seahawks. “I like a good offense and Seattle has that. New England has a good defense. If I was betting I would take the under.”

Andre Vige, Eunice High – Patriots. “I like what Vrabel has done with the Patriots.”

Buck Harris, Beau Chene – Seahawks. “I just watch the highlights (of the NFL). I like the Seahawks for no real reason.”

Cullen Matherne, Opelousas Catholic – Seahawks. “Overall the Seahawks are the better team, more complete. Seattle has also played a tougher schedule. Look for the Seahawks to win by 10 points.”

Dwight Collins, North Central – Seahawks.

Byron Porter, Westminster – Patriots. “Vrabel has the pedigree. He has created a winning team.

Rob Poole, Church Point – Seahawks. “I have to say it’s sort of a toss up. Seattle has a defense that’s salty.”

Vinny Bullara, Port Barre – Seahawks. “Vrabel is an Ohio State guy and I am a Michigan guy. That’s why I am picking the Seahawks.”

Guest picker: Paul Trosclair, former Eunice High head coach – Seahawks. “The quarterback has played very well lately, especially last week. I also like what they do with the defense.”
