Wine, Waiters And Women

It was the men taking orders this time, as they poured, cleared tables, handled the dishes and worked obediently to please groups of elegantly dressed women Saturday night during an annual St. Landry-Evangeline United Way event held at the Opelousas Civic Center.

The wine-tasting and supper event featuring varieties of red and white, flowed frequently as celebrity waiters wrestled with corkscrews as oversaw the beverages that accompanied a buffet meal and desserts.

Labeled waiting on women who wine, elected officials like Dustin Miller, Graig LeBlanc, Jessie Bellard in addition to parish school superintendent Milton Batiste III and school board member Raymond Cassimere, wore aprons over their tuxedo shirts and ties and went to work.

At the end of the night the women selected their favorite waiter, showering him with tips and applause.
