Opelousas police veteran police officer Frank Boudreaux was promoted to the rank of probational captain during the conclusion of an Opelousas Board of Aldermen meeting Tuesday night.

Boudreaux was accompanied during the brief ceremony by family members and Opelousas Police Chief Graig LeBlanc, who announced the promotion of the officer who has 28 years of experience with the department.

Tiffany Boudreaux, the wife of Frank Boudreaux, pinned the captain’s rank bars on Boudreaux during the ceremony.

LeBlanc noted during the ceremony that during his employment with OPD, Boudreaux has displayed “integrity and professionalism.”

The rank promotion which at this point is considered probational, is the first that LeBlanc has made since being elected as police chief in 2022.

“(Boudreaux) has always been one of my go-to people,” said LeBlanc. 

The previous rank for Boudreaux was permanent police lieutenant.
