The Opelousas Pregnancy Center held its second annual Geaux the Extra Mile 5K/1 Mile Fundraiser on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at South City Park in Opelousas.
Although it was a chilly morning, it did not stop participants from coming out in support of the Opelousas Pregnancy Center’s mission: to provide support for the abundant life of mothers and babies. More than 85 participants ranging in age from babies to over 70 lined up to take off for the 1-mile and 5K walk/run.
OPC Board President and Pastor of Christ Church, Kirk Alexander, opened the celebration in prayer shortly before runners took off!
Vendors were set up in the parking lot of South City Park for the participants and community members to enjoy food and refreshments, games and activities for the kids, and live music performance by JC Melancon and the Bayou Rock Band.
Participants who completed the 1-mile and 5K run with the best time were presented awards for Top Overall, and Male and Female winners in each age category. Winners are named below.
