The St. Landry Parish Republican Party Executive Committee is sponsoring a Republican candidate introduction event open to the public on Wednesday beginning at 6 p.m. at Toby’s Downtown in Opelousas.

Parish Republican Party vice-chairman Craig Shilow said the opportunity to listen to Republican candidates who are running for national, statewide and local office on Nov. 8 will be first time the parish wing of the party has sponsored a large candidate’s event.

Parish Republican Party chairman Jim Lopez said on Monday that he has received confirmation from several Republican candidates who have indicated they plan to attend the free event which includes appearances from national, state and local party candidates.

According to a candidate list provided by Lopez and Shilow, the candidates attending the event are U.S. Senate candidate Devin Lance Graham; Stephen Moore, campaign manager for incumbent U.S. Senator John Kennedy and Public Service Commissioner Mike Francis.

Parish School Board candidates include Judy Williams, District 6; Josh Boudreaux and Robert Gautreaux, District 7; Tiffany Nolan, District 11 and Opelousas Alderman Charles Cummings.,   

Lopez said that Kennedy was unable to attend due to a scheduling conflict.
