According to St. Landry Parish District Attorney Chad Pitre, a Grand Jury today returned a four-count indictment against Kenneth Paul Rene, 43 of Opelousas for the aggravated rape and first-degree rape of his victims.
Rene is accused of sexually abusing these victims between 2015 and 2021. Pitre indicated his office worked with “Hearts of Hope” a sexual trauma center here in Acadiana and St. Landry Parish Sheriffs detectives to indict this child predator. The St. Landry Parish Sheriffs Department is in charge of this investigation.
A conviction of Aggravated Rape or First-Degree Rape can sometimes lead to either the death penalty or life imprisonment without benefit of parole, probation or suspension of sentence. The terms “Aggravated Rape” and “First-Degree Rape” generally have the same meaning under Louisiana law.
