Crowds started arriving early in downtown Opelousas to pass a good time and watch the Opelousas Imperial Mardi Gras Parade which rolled down Landry Street to the Yambilee grounds. Sounds of “throw me something mister” was heard throughout the parade route where marching bands, decorative floats and an assortment of parade entries made their way down Landry Street which was lined with Mardi Gras revelers three and four deep, with outstretched hands hoping to catch beads and othe throws. Leading the parade was Grand Marshal Lonnie Briley while ruling over the Imperial Mardi Gras was King Imperial VII Robbie Tomlinson and Queen Lily VII Candace Papillion Haynes.
