FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – DECEMBER 8, 2021
EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice’s Gabrielle Felix became the latest signee for LSUE Women’s Soccer, pledging to continue her academic and athletic career at UL Monroe. The Acadiana High product recently signed with ULM during the NCAA’s initial signing period back in November.
“Gabby is the type of student-athlete every coach loves to have in their program,” LSU Eunice Women’s Soccer head coach Ian McGimsey said. “You know exactly what you are getting out of Gabby in everything she does – 100 percent. She is a great leader, a tireless worker and has a high standard for herself in the classroom.”
“I’m really looking forward to watching her excel at UL-Monroe,” McGimsey added.
Felix was a mainstay on the LSUE backline during her three seasons with LSUE, using her COVID-19 exemption this past fall. The versatile defender played both inside and outside of the defensive four, starting 39 of the 40 matches she suited up for with the Bengals. Felix finished with just one goal in her LSUE career, part of a 3-0 victory this season against Western Texas.
She was a vital part of LSUE’s early success as a program, having a hand in 19 shutouts with LSU Eunice over her career..
This marks the third straight year LSU Eunice has produced at least one Division I signee. The Bengals had six student-athletes go on to four-year schools a year ago, including a pair of NCAA Division I institutions.
