Division IV Semifinal: Opelousas Catholic plays St. John-Plaquemine 7 p.m. St. Julien’s Field in Broussard.Through the playoffs:

Top-seeded Opelousas Catholic (27-5) is in the semifinals for the first time since 2016. OCS has defeated No. 16 Metairie Park Country Day 7-0 and No. 8 Catholic High Pointe Coupee 5-1 to reach the semifinals. St. John is seeded No. 4.

Season recap-Third-year OCS softball coach Will Pitre says this about his Vikings’ overall season performance: “We have had good pitching and defense throughout the year. We have also been able to score enough runs when we have had to. We have a young team with one senior, but we were younger last year and they got experience from that.”

How about that No. 1 seed? “We were somewhat in the middle of the pack the whole season and then we started moving up. Three weeks ago we were something like number three or number four. Then on the last day, we wake up look at the bracket and we’re number one.” – Will Pitre.

A look at the lineup with Will Pitre: (Pitchers) The Vikings have two starters, freshman Ashley Little and sophomore Kaden Faul. Pitre says OCS alternates both players. “They are like number one or two pitchers. We can throw them back to back.
