Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz reports, “On December 17, 2024, St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office
Narcotics Detectives received information of a planned narcotics transaction (fentanyl) to take
place at the Motel 6 located at 4165 I-49 Service Road in Opelousas, LA. The Detectives
established surveillance supplemented by marked units and St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office
SWAT Team members.”
“As the identified vehicle arrived with three black males, the marked units moved in. The
driver, Robert Johnson, was apprehended in the vehicle with a pistol in his possession. Two
other suspects attempted to flee but were surrounded and quickly taken into custody.” Sheriff
Guidroz stated. “One of the suspects, Jovonta Curtis, ran from the vehicle brandishing a Glock
.45 caliber pistol with an extended magazine. Fortunately, he tossed the pistol on the ground
and surrendered.”
Sheriff Guidroz went on to report, “Such was not the case with the front seat passenger, Casey
Galmon. He chose to be combative with the Detective taking him into custody which resulted
in additional charges. The suspects left behind the narcotics enumerated in the charges.”
