‘SELECT FROM WITHIN’
Mr. John Dupre, Mr. Lanny Moreau, Mr. Henry Monteith, Mr. Ryan Fontenot, Mr. Claude Oubre, Mr. Bergeron and Mr. Nassif to name a few persons who lived and worked in this Parish and did serve as Superintendent of schools in St. Landry Parish. They were well versed in the operation of the school system, familiar with the residents and voters and did not require months to get adjusted to the job. What happened to that practice? For years teachers and principals are honored in St. Landry Parish for being tops among their peers because they exceled in the field of education and leadership. This is certainly a requirement necessary for the position of School Superintendent.
I do not understand why there has to be a state or national search when the person the children and parents need is located right here in St. Landry Parish. There is a need for the present School Board Members to give this situation very serious consideration . Consulting with majority of the voters would be a great way to start. Getting the tax payers opinion would be a plus for the Board Members.
Searching for candidates in St. Landry Parish worked years ago and was a success. Keep the search in St. Landry.
