Sandbags Available for Pickup at Yambilee Building Ahead of Weekend Rainfall
ST. LANDRY PARISH – With heavy rainfall expected to impact St. Landry Parish later
this week, the St. Landry Parish Government will begin making sandbags available to
the public starting Wednesday, July 16 at 12:00 PM at the following location:
Yambilee Building
1939 W Landry Street
Opelousas, LA 70570
Pre-filled sandbags will be available for residents to pick up. Parish officials urge
residents to take advantage of this opportunity and make preparations ahead of the
approaching weather system.
This proactive measure, led by Parish President Jessie Bellard and the Office of
Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, is part of the parish’s continued
efforts to assist residents in minimizing flood-related damage.
“Our priority is keeping residents safe and prepared,” said Parish President
Jessie Bellard. “We’re making sandbags available early so families across the
parish have time to secure their homes and property before the weather
worsens.”
An update with additional sandbag pickup locations in other municipalities throughout
St. Landry Parish will be released tomorrow afternoon.
Residents are encouraged to stay tuned to official parish channels and local news
outlets for ongoing weather updates and emergency information.
