CHARGES:
Malfeasance In Office
Contraband Taken To and From Penal Institutions
Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz reports, “Detectives with our agency were notified by the St. Landry Parish District
Attorney’s Office of inappropriate conduct by a parish employee. The employee, Toi Lazard, is assigned to the
Parish Jail where she supervises the kitchen and the trustees assigned to the kitchen.” Sheriff Guidroz
continues, “The investigation revealed that Lazard was bringing her cellphone into the jail and allowing inmates
to use the phone for calls, texts messaging and face time conversations. Some of the alleged conversations
involved an inmate, on trial for a homicide, attempting to convince a witness to change their testimony.”
Sheriff Guidroz concludes, “The very strict guidelines and laws involving contraband and the required conduct
and behavior of any and everyone who enters a correctional center are there to prevent such occurrences. When
we learn of any misconduct on the part of agency or government employees, we will investigate, seek the truth
and take appropriate action without favor or prejudice.”
