The Creole culture was brought to the forefront Saturday, Aug. 16, as Le Vieux Village hosted Zydeco Unplugged, a program that teaches the Creole culture which includes Zydeco music. The day long event included vendors, musicians and historians including Alex Genealogy and Southwest Louisiana Genealogy Researchers giving a presentation on some of the influential families of St. Landry Parish. At the little school house located at the village Louisiana Creole Inc. presented beginners french lessons at Tableau Francais.

Opelousas is the capital of Zydeco music so it was only natural for Andre Thierry and other Zydeco musicians to teach accordion, scrubboard and drums for the up and coming Zydeco musicians of the future. Thierry also spoke on the history and legacy of Zydeco pioneers.
