Recognizing Parish Schools

It was an academic excellence presentation night at the St. Landry Parish School Board on Thursday, as the state test scores at 12 schools were introduced during an annual ceremonial presentation in front of board members.

The pre-school performances at District-operated sites were also identified as part of the program that created standing room only attendance.

Curriculum Director Angela Cassimere explained that top-gains schools are identified for their academic progress, strong academic growth, instructional practices and support.

Pre-K Recognitions

Elementary Honor Roll pre-kindergarten sites presented were:

Cankton Elementary – Top Gains Honor Roll

Grand Prairie Elementary – Excellent Honor Roll

Grolee Elementary – Excellent Honor Roll

Highland Early Learning Center – Excellent Honor Roll

Palmetto Elementary School – Excellent Honor Roll

Park Vista Elementary – Excellent Honor Roll

Port Barre Elementary – Excellent Honor Roll

Cassimere also said that the Magnet School For The Cultural Arts received three awards as an A-rated school for their performance scores, top gains status and as an opportunity honoree, MACA was recognized for providing opportunities for disadvantaged students.

Eunice High is the other A-rated parish school.
