About 20 members of the 1966 boys and girls Academy of The Immaculate Conception graduating class met on Monday during a daytime, three-hour reunion held at a Lafayette restaurant.
The informal event held underneath the Agave Restaurant pavilion on Kaliste Saloom, was planned with primary help from class members Fred Credeur, Robert Voitier and Debbie Dossman Gooch.
Reunion items provided for the attendees included sunglasses and official AIC t-shirts. Songs that were popular during the mid-1960’s played as the former classmates became reacquainted and recalled classroom, athletic and social events that defined their AIC experience.
During the reunion, class members also had access to photos and articles from The Wildcat, student newspaper in addition to vintage black and white photographs taken during their high school days.
A roll call for deceased class members was observed before a reunion-ending luncheon.
Two young waitresses provided by the restaurant to cater the event, had fun attempting to match those attending the reunion with the teenagers whose photos were taken during the 1960’s.
High school students attending AIC, now Opelousas Catholic, were previously taught separately in different wings of the campus by the Marianite Sisters of The Holy Cross and the De La Salle Christian Brothers.
