When you are in downtown Opelousas be sure to check out the work of Angela Gregory at the Court Street entrance to our parish courthouse building. Over the last years, there has been a renewed interest in the work of this internationally known Louisiana sculptor.

A few years ago, a book about her early life was released, and last month there was an exhibit of some of her work in Port Allen, LA.

Last month the Imperial Calcasieu Museum in Lake Charles included the work of Angela Gregory in an exhibit they were doing about Louisiana artists. And tomorrow evening, Monday, August 22, 2022, at 7:00 PM, Louisiana Public Broadcast (LPB) will have a special documentary about Angela Gregory called Angela Gregory: A Legacy Chiseled in Stone. Dorothy Kendrick from LPB, in charge of the production of the documentary, was in contact with us and we sent her information about the artwork on the St. Landry Parish Courthouse. Freddie Herpin took amazing pictures of that artwork that we sent to her. Some of those photos, and that information will be part of the Angela Gregory documentary on LPB when it is broadcasted tomorrow.
