Dice were rolling and cards were on the table Friday night as the St. Landry Chamber of Commerce hosted an annual Casino Night and Banquet at the Stone Oaks Ballroom in Opelousas.

The approximately 175 participants had the opportunity to compete for raffle prizes after they cashed in required amounts of casino chips.

Casino games began following awards presentations that featured the announcement of Chamber’s community member of the year and businesses of the year and non-profit of the year presentations.

Chamber president and CEO Laina Brickley said Madelyn Rosette was presented with the annual Community Member of The Year Award. Nominees for the award were Theresa Stelly, Scott Champagne, Mario Benoit, Carlos Lerma, Shelly Fontenot and Tracey Antee.

Dupre, Carriere Godchaux won the Large Business of the Year Award. Small Business of the Year was given to Chicory’s At The Palace Cafe, while The Refinery was give the Non-profit of the Year award, Brickley said.

The event Brickley said, will assist in helping the Chamber Foundation provide scholarships for local students.
