LAFAYETTE, LA – We are learning every day that there are ways in which people with
Parkinson’s Disease can enhance their daily quality of life and even build impressive
power, strength, flexibility and speed! By exercising with coaches who know the ropes,
you can fight your way out of the corner and start to feel and function better. “Rock
Steady Boxing” works by moving your body in all planes of motion while continuously
changing the routine as you progress through the workout. These classes have proven
that anyone, at any level of Parkinson’s, can actually lessen their symptoms and lead a
healthier/happier life.
“Rock Steady Boxing” began in Indianapolis in 2006, and has since spread to
over 870 affiliate locations worldwide. In early 2022, Rodi Aucoin and Kerry Hoffpauir,
owners of RISE PT and Sports Lab in Lafayette, realized the need for such a program in
our community and opened the area’s first affiliate, “Rock Steady Boxing Acadiana.”
Through their close work with Parkinson’s over the past year, they have become more
aware than ever of the growing need of support for individuals and their family
members battling the disease.
Through fundraising efforts with a joint partnership between RISE Physical
Therapy & Sports Lab (300 G, 300 Rue Beauregard, Lafayette, LA) and Love of People
(1400 NW Evangeline Thwy (Suite 200), we will ensure that clients in Acadiana with
limited resources are able to access “Rock Steady Boxing Acadiana” and other services
related to Parkinson’s Disease. Consider joining us in our fundraising efforts. You can
make a tax deductible donation towards this cause via the attached link. We have also
provided additional resources to learn more about “Rock Steady Boxing Acadiana”.
