For over 100 years the Opelousas Episcopal Church of the Epiphany has held their annual chicken salad sandwich sale. The tradition continued on Wednesday when church volunteers prepared and sold around 2500 of the delicious sandwiches to the hungry masses throughout the city. The volunteers get started very early and around noon the last shipment of sandwiches are delivered, mostly to area businesses that are given as a tasty treat to the employees,
It was a family affair for two of the volunteers this year. Charlotte Kahanek and daughter Melissa Thompson who drove in from Atlanta Georgia. The ladies are the daughter and granddaughter of the late Fannie Genin. The annual sandwich sale is a major fundraiser for the Episcopal Church
