Arrest Made in November 18 Shooting on Larry Street
Opelousas, LA – January 6, 2025
Investigators with the Opelousas Police Department have arrested a suspect in
connection with the November 18, 2024, shooting on Larry Street. Upon arriving at the
scene, officers discovered that a Black male victim had been shot in the face. The victim
was transported to a local hospital in serious condition.
Thanks to the cooperation of citizens in the area, investigators quickly identified the
suspect as Travion Anthony Williams Jones. Probable cause was established,
leading to the issuance of an arrest warrant for Mr. Jones on the following charges:
Attempted Second Degree Murder
Illegal Use of Weapons and Dangerous Instrumentalities
Illegal Possession of a Stolen Firearm
Mr. Jones was apprehended in Point Coupee Parish and will be transported back to St.
Landry Parish to face these charges.
Chief Graig Leblanc expressed his gratitude to the community members whose
information was instrumental in making this arrest. “The assistance from the public
played a crucial role in this investigation,” said Chief Leblanc. “When our citizens step
forward and share what they know, it helps us solve cases more quickly and sends a
clear message that violence will not be tolerated in Opelousas. I urge everyone to
