Opelousas, LA (April 30, 2025) – The City of Opelousas has issued a boil water advisory effective
Wednesday, April 30, 2025, for residents and businesses located from Woodhaven to Ducharme
Road. The advisory is being issued due to the replacement of a water main in the area, which
required temporary disruption to water service.
While crews are working diligently to complete the upgrade and restore full service, the City is
taking precautionary measures to ensure public health and safety. Water service has been
restored; however, testing must be completed before confirming that water is safe for
consumption.
This advisory is in accordance with Louisiana Department of Health guidelines and will remain in
effect until the City receives confirmation that the water is safe for regular use. An
announcement will be made once the advisory is lifted.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience and
cooperation as we continue to make necessary improvements to Opelousas’ water
infrastructure.
Updates on the status of the repairs and the boil water advisory will be provided as they
become available. For more information, residents are encouraged to contact the City of
Opelousas Water Department at 337-948-2527 or visit our website at cityofopelousas.com
