Certification of Corrections Deputies

Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz is pleased to report, “We are proud to announce four more
Corrections Deputies have graduated from the State of Louisiana Basic 92-hour course. During
the course, deputies are instructed on the use of force, inmate care, introduction to weapons,
contraband control, etc. The St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office uses in-house, state certified
instructors to train deputies prior to their attending a more extensive Corrections Academy to
become P.O.S.T. – certified Corrections Officers.” Sheriff Guidroz states, “Our goal is to have
every deputy working in the jail to be certified by the end of the year. I stand by my pledge to
bring more certified deputies working in the field and in the jail; our citizens deserve nothing
less.”
