Local entrepreneurs and civic leaders engaged in a series of commercial networking activities at Our Savior’s Church Friday morning during the fourth annual business summit hosted by the St. Landry Chamber of Commerce.
Chamber president and CEO Lori Dupuy said 225 members of the Acadiana-area business industry had registered for the event which featured motivational guest speaker Julio Melera, president and CEO of Baton Rouge-based Merla Enterprises, a multi-media company.
Merla, Dupuy said, encouraged the attendees and described methods of growing their businesses in addition to ways to connect with individual clients.
“We were looking at this as an educational opportunity for our business owners in the area and a way for them to meet one another and perhaps trade ideas. It also gave individuals a chance to view career fields. We were delighted with the turnout,” Dupuy said.
Dupuy said the event also featured representatives from a cross section of local businesses that included insurance, medical fields, digital marketing and workforce development.
The St. Landry Parish Economic and Development District was the presenting sponsor for the event, while Helix Community Schools acted as a partnering sponsor, Dupuy added.
