A major changed at South City Park began Wednesday when crews began the demolition of the bath house and swimming pools to make room for a community center to be built at South City Park. The bath house and swimming pools were constructed by the CCC Corp (Civilian Conservation Corp) during the Great Depression 1933-1942. The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) camps were Depression-era work relief programs (1933-1942) established by President Roosevelt’s New Deal. It is not known if the snowball stand, located on the boulevard, another park landmark, will be removed also.
