Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz stated, “On June 4, 2024, narcotics detectives received a Crime Stopper tip regarding illegal drug activity at
1366 Nash Drive, Opelousas, Louisiana. The tipster advised an unidentified male was selling drugs from the location to children. For
several months narcotics detectives investigated the tip and were able to identify the suspect as Rod Angus. Angus was a convicted
felon previously arrested for PWITD marijuana, and weapons charges.”
“Narcotics Detectives tried to develop sources and other investigative techniques to validate the information from the tipster but were
unsuccessful,” Guidroz stated.
Today on Thursday, December 5, 2024 after several days of dedicated surveillance, surveillance units witnessed Angus conduct a
hand-to-hand transaction with a white male behind the rear of the residence. The white male suspect then entered a grey Chevrolet
Traverse and proceeded to travel north on I-49 Service Road south.
Sheriff added, “Marked units who were in the area conducted an investigative stop on the vehicle. Upon approaching the driver’s side
of the car, detectives observed four small cellophane bags of suspected marijuana in plain view on the center console. The driver was
questioned and admitted that he had just purchased the marijuana from Rod Angus.
Detectives then applied for and obtained a search warrant for the residence.
Prior to executing the warrant, Angus departed the residence in a black SUV and was stopped and detained by marked units.
“Other detectives then went to the residence where they encountered Keshie Manuel in the residence with her five-month-old son.
Manuel was smoking a marijuana blunt at the time detectives arrived to execute the warrant.
